Ara\u015ft\u0131rma ekibi ilk ba\u015fta, 1978’de ke\u015ffedilen ve \u015fimdiye kadar en kuzeydeki ada olarak bilinen Oodaaq’a ayak bast\u0131klar\u0131n\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnd\u00fc.\u00a0Ancak bulunduklar\u0131 konumu kontrol eden bilim insanlar\u0131, Oodaaq’\u0131n yakla\u015f\u0131k 800 metre kuzeybat\u0131s\u0131nda ba\u015fka bir adada olduklar\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6rd\u00fc.\u00a0Ara\u015ft\u0131rma ekibinden Morten Rasch, o anlar\u0131 \u015f\u00f6yle anlatt\u0131: “Oodaaq Adas\u0131’na gitmek istemi\u015ftik. Bu zorlu ko\u015fullarda ya\u015famaya uyum sa\u011flayan yeni t\u00fcrler aramak i\u00e7in adadan \u00f6rnek toplamay\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fck. K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck bir helikopterde 6 ki\u015fiydik.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Oodaaq’\u0131n konumuna gittiklerinde aday\u0131 bulamad\u0131klar\u0131n\u0131 kaydeden Rasch, “Buralarda haritalar pek do\u011fru olmuyor. Bu y\u00fczden aday\u0131 aramaya ba\u015flad\u0131k. Heyecan verici birka\u00e7 dakikadan sonra her taraf\u0131 deniz buzuyla \u00e7evrili bitki olmayan \u00e7amur, moren ve \u00e7ak\u0131l dolu adaya indik” dedi: “Ke\u015fif gezisinden ve konunu uzmanlar\u0131yla yap\u0131lan pek \u00e7ok tart\u0131\u015fmadan sonra, tesad\u00fcfen D\u00fcnya’n\u0131n en kuzeyindeki aday\u0131 buldu\u011fumuzu anlad\u0131k. Niyetimiz yeni bir ada ke\u015ffetmek de\u011fildi.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Yakla\u015f\u0131k 60×30 mere b\u00fcy\u00fckl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde ve yakla\u015f\u0131k \u00fc\u00e7 metre y\u00fcksekli\u011findeki k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck ada, deniz yata\u011f\u0131ndaki \u00e7amur ve morenden (buzullar\u0131n hareket etmesinin ard\u0131ndan ortaya \u00e7\u0131kan toprak ve kaya par\u00e7alar\u0131) olu\u015fuyor.\u00a0Ara\u015ft\u0131rma ekibi adan\u0131n isminin Gr\u00f6nlandca “en kuzeydeki ada”\u00a0anlam\u0131na gelen Qeqertaq Avannarleq olmas\u0131n\u0131 istiyor.<\/p>\n
